"You have seen a housefly, a butterfly, but have you seen a 'flying bengal tiger? Yes - and more - at the 'Washington State International Kite Festival' (W.S.I.K.F) in Long Beach, Washington; every year in August!"
Artist comment: "The 'Washington State International Kite Festival' (W.S.I.K.F.) is an exciting public event every year, the third full week of August. Kite makers and flyers from around the globe gather to show and demonstrate their craft. From single line 'traditional' kites, to parafoils with uncanny maneuverability - the gala is a feast for the eye and a joy to the heart! I captured this amazing 'kite', isolated it, and later in my studio, painted it with pastel on 'Canson Mi-Teintes' paper. The clear blue sky compliments the golden yellow-orange of the tiger. It was a fun challenge to make the fabric look shiny. The white 'lines' were put in with a pastel pencil."
