"Kite makers and kite flyers never cease to amaze and awe their fans at festivals with unique and innovative designs such as this 'jellyfish spinner'."
Artist comment: "A huge jellyfish kite was seen at a recent festival on the Long Beach peninsula of Washington State. I am always looking for interesting kites to paint and this one 'fits the bill'. I took numerous research photos and in my studio I sketched it on Canson Mi-Teintes textured paper, to be painted with 'soft' pastels. I painted the sky, blending dark into light, then beginning with yellow I did each 'tentacle' from back to front, paying attention to lights, darks, shadows, and details such as fabric creases. A few white lines and voila! A 'Jellyfish Spinner' in the sky!"
